Internship Outline for Students

The internship is scheduled for the 4th semester with a duration of a minimum of 600 hours. The internship period may also be divided over two periods (e.g. during the summer), whereas each part should have a minimum duration of 300 hours.
You will either undertake a professional placement within the tourism or the hospitality sector.
Tourism sector businesses will be tour operators, travel agencies, car rental agencies, transportation providers (airline, train, coach, etc.), local, regional, national or international tourism organizations (tourist office, tourist boards, etc.), theme parks, museums, etc.
Hospitality sector businesses will be hotels and any other type of accommodation for the traveler and recreationist (hostels, campgrounds, apartments, etc.).
During your internship, you should obtain a range of operational experiences as well as knowledge of how a department is managed. Experiences within the following departments are recommended: accounting, finance, HR, IT, marketing, customer service, R&D, consultancy and communication.
- Select a suitable company for your internship by either choosing a company from the universitys database of partners or by looking for a company not on this list. In both cases, the companys profile should match the students goals and career aspirations.
- Compile an appropriate CV and cover letter (assistance will be provided during the Internship Application Training).
- Contact the company and discuss internship opportunities. A job interview might take place.
- Provide the sponsoring organization with an internship contract (available through the University Intranet website). To be valid, the form must be signed by the two parties (employer + student) and then ratified by the University Internship Coordinator.
The internship takes place from March to September at the latest (or during two summer periods). After completion of the internship, the supervisor assesses the student by filling the Appraisal Form and sending it to MODUL Career, and the student writes an internship report and hands it in to MODUL Career.
Upon evaluation of both the appraisal form and the internship report, internship credits are granted to the student (ECTS). Detailed information can be found in the Internship Manual (see download area). If you have any other questions please contact:
